A head constable posted with Hanumanganj police station was on Friday arrested, after his minor daughter lodged a complaint of sexual assault against him with the Kamla Nagar police. The offender was harassing the girl for five years.
According to the police, Vinod Kumar Singh (43) was arrested on Friday for sexually assaulting his minor daughter for five years. SHO of Mahila police station Pragya Namjoshi said that the victim had hinted her mother regarding the atrocity, but never provided her about the act directly.
The matter surfaced after the victim opposed and raised alarm against the wrong doings of her father on Friday when he tried to again sexually assault her after which when the mother asked her she explained the atrocities faced by her.
The mother along with the girl approached Kamla Nagar police station and lodged a complaint against the accused, she added.
Sources claimed that victim’s mother and her neighbours were aware of the heinous act, but were intimidated by the accused, but the police have denied regarding this.
Police said that the victim is a class X student of private school. Her classmates, neighbours and relatives would be questioned. Fearing her father, the victim kept mum for five years, but mustered courage and reported the incident to the police.
After the preliminary investigation, the police have registered a case under section 376 of the IPC and
section 3 and 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence and have started further investigation into the matter.
