Controversy erupts ahead of MANIT's Board meeting

The proposed Board of Governors (BOG) meeting of the Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) has entered into controversy. The meeting was expected to be stormy because besides other issues, it was to discuss the appointment of five faculties in the year 2005. Now, a new controversy related to registrar Ajit Narayan has surfaced up.

Prior to this MANIT director in a hurry ordered an enquiry committee on Sunday against the registrar. Sources claimed that Narayan would not be allowed in the meeting, while Narayan is adamant to attend the meet. The last BOG held in February decided to sack five faculties after irregularities were found in their appointment that was held in the year 2005. Though, the director restored their services without taking permission of the BOG. On this, registrar Narayan had registered an objection. The issue was again enlisted to put up before the BOG in its meeting scheduled on Wednesday.

Narayan said that the director would have to answer in the BOG meeting that under what powers did he restored the services of the faculties sacked by the BOG. BY constituting enquiry committee against me the director wants me to stop from attending the meeting. If I would be turned out from the meeting than I would knock the doors of the court, he added.

With, things getting controversy marred now it would be the opinion of the chairperson that would be most important on the issue. Now the chairperson would decide whether or not Narayan could attend the BOG meeting or not. But in any case it is expected that the scheduled BOG is going to be stormy. Apparently perturbed over getting no support from any one, she finally met the DIG Indore and reeled out her story to him. It was only after instruction from DIG that Mahila police station on Tuesday lodged a complaint against the youth.
