Contractual employees of 54 depts start phased agitation

Annoyed with the announcement of regularising daily wagers and not initiating process for their regularisation, more than 2 lakh contractual employees of 54 departments have started phased agitation.

In the first phase of the agitation, contractual employees of various departments staged a protest at Arera Hills, Bhopal under the banner of Madhya Pradesh Contractual Employees and Officials Federation.

In the second phase of the agitation, a delegation of contractual employees along with the State President of the Federation Ramesh Rathore met the Minister of Madhya Pradesh General Administration Department (GAD) lal Singh Arya.

The delegation told the Minister that they welcomed the announcement but two lakh of contractual employees are annoyed as the Government has not taken any initiative towards the regularisation of contractual employees. The delegation alleged that the daily wagers are those who have been recruited from back door without following the reservation roster but the Government is not regularising the eligible contractual employees, who have been duly recruited on the basis of merit.

The contractual employees are the backbone of the State government and they reserve the first right to be regular. The Government has managed to get many awards from the Central government because of these Contractual employees and officers. This way, the contractual employees feel that they are being exploited, the delegation members alleged.

After giving sympathetic ear to the demands of the delegation, the Minister assured that the government feels that the contractual employees should be regularised. “We would soon start the process of regularizing contractual employees, after regularising the daily wagers,” he added.

The delegation included MP Contractual Employees and Officials Federation State President Ramesh Rathore, State Convener Rajeev Pandey, Avadh Kumar Garg, Amit Kulhaar, Anil Singh, Vijay Jain, Anoop Shandilya and others.
