Contract employees 'upset with Govt'

The contract employees and their family members are not going to bless Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan who is taking out Jan Ashirwad to get blessings of the people for forming Government third term in Madhya Pradesh.

State president of Madhya Pradesh contract employees’ federation Ramesh Rathod, in a statement, said that such a decision was taken after the meeting of the federation as during the nine-year tenure the 2 lakh contract employees have given around 500 memorandums to the Government demanding regularisation the contract employees of the State. Rathod claimed that the contract employees are slaves of higher officials as they have to bribe with a month’s salary for the extension of the services.

The contract employees amount to 30 lakh votes which comprise around 10 per cent of the voting population and this time the votes are not going to be cast in the favour of the ruling party. The contract employees who were paid from the Central Government schemes were regularised but the employees selected by the Government are still waiting for regularisation. The contract employees are paid half the salary given to regular employees, but have to work as a regular employee. The funds provided through the schemes promoted by Central Government for salary and other benefits are not disbursed timely the sum is lapsed at the end of the year.

The contract employees are terminated from services without any prior notice and are threatened to follow orders without questioning and in case of inquiry the contract employee is held guilty for the wrong doing. The newly selected contract employees are paid the same salary which is being paid to the contract employees working for the last 15 years.
