Expecting that every party worker would work unitedly, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday expressed confidence that his party will come to power in Madhya Pradesh after the Assembly polls.
While addressing a huge gathering at the Basheer Dada ground at Rahatgarh in Sagar district, he said, “I have no doubt in my mind that the Congress would definitely win the Assembly elections.”Referring to Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh’s earlier remarks that unity among the party workers is a must for forming Government, Rahul stressed that the party would fight the elections unitedly and all candidates would be nominees of the party and not of any leader.
Maintaining direct dialogue with his party workers present there, he asked them whether they would work unitedly. Untill he heard clear ‘Yes’ from them, he kept on asking. The Congress Vice President said that there was a lot of difference in the kind of politics of Congress and BJP. Rahul hit out at the BJP for practising politics of the rich and those who use air conditioners and said that Congress believes in doing politics for common man.
He alleged that BJP leaders are not worried about the common people and want to use politics only for personal gain. Rahul said it is the wish of the Congress that sons and grandsons of the poor are also able to travel in planes and cars. Other leaders who spoke at the rally included Union Ministers Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia, Rajya Sabha member Satyavrat Chaturvedi, state Congress president Kantilal Bhuria and leader of Opposition in state Assembly Ajay Singh.
Ironically, Congress general secretary Mohan Prakash and Scindia had to remain on their foot on the dais, due to lack of space. There were only six chairs and the number of leaders was more; thus both the leaders kept on standing till the programme was over.
