State Congress has registered strong apprehension over holding of State cabinet meeting at Ujjaini and termed it as criminal wastage of public funds.
Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President and MP Arun Yadav in a statement here on Tuesday said, “Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s decision to hold cabinet meeting in Indore district’s Ujjaini at the place of holding it at the Mantralaya in state capital is highly objectionable as over `50 lakh have been spent on it unnecessarily, and that is sheer criminal wastage of hard earned money of tax payers of the State.”
Yadav further said that Chouhan wish to get political mileage by spending this huge sum of public money for his party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the forth coming general elections. “Is it justified on part of the state government that is burdened with over `1 lakh crore of debt to spend a huge sum of `50 lakh on a single meetingIJ Dos not this government stay away from doing such wastage of funds in the interest of the state.”
He said that lakhs of rupees were spent on construction especially done keeping in mind the cabinet meeting at Ujjaini, ministers and officials air journey and road journey could have been easily avoided keeping in view the bad fiscal condition of the state by doing the cabinet meeting at Mantralaya. The tradition of doing cabinet meetings in the Mantralaya is in for because there a lot of confidentiality is to be maintained. How much the issue of confidentiality was addressed in Ujjaini also remains a serious issue, he added.
He said that calling of a cabinet meeting at Ujjaini in a hurry is not at all concerned in the interest of people or state but it is an attempt of the BJP to give religious shape to the linking of Narmada – Shipra Rivers that took place last days for gaining political mileage.
