Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged that the proposed Congress bandh on Thursday is anti-people and unconstitutional. BJP State president and MP Nandkumar Singh Chouhan in a statement here on Wednesday said, “We should respect the court in constitutional rule and system. The proposed bandh of Congress is anti-people, unconstitutional and immoral step.”
Chouhan said Congress party’s stubborn attitude over High Court observance over its proposed bandh on July 16 is unjust. The bandh and strike are justified only when it is in the interest of public.
The Congress demand was for CBI enquiry of the VYAPAM scam that the chief minister agreed for showing full sensitivity towards public sentiments and requested the court also for the same and the Supreme Court accepting chief minister’s request ordered CBI enquiry of the scam. The CBI started its investigation with full might, in these circumstances there seems no justification for band and if the Congress adopts stubborn attitude than it is not in the interest of the people, he added.
He said that the Congress attitude shows that Congress has neither faith in court nor is it serious over the CBI enquiry. The peaceful trading community by taking decision to open their establishments on July 16 has appreciated the people’s sentiments. This is also a chance that the holy festival of Eid would be celebrated on July 17 and the Muslim community could face difficulties due to the bandh. In this view also the trading communities’ decision to stay away from band is in the interest of people and is a welcome step, he added.
The senior BJP said that the political initiative that is not serious towards public interest neither gets neither public support nor does it is considered as per the spirit of democracy.
