Congress lodges EVM tampering plaint with ECI

State Congress has lodged a complaint with election Commission of India (ECI), regarding tampering with the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during the Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls held on November 25. Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president and MP Kantilal Bhuria in a statement here on Wednesday said, “We received several complaints of tampering in the EVM on the poling day. The complaints are serious and pose question mark over the use, effectiveness and credibility of EVMs for voting.”

Bhuria further said the error in the EVM were not natural, because the EVM are fully checked before being sent for the polling booths and before half an hour of the polling they area gain checked through mock polling and is kept for public voting only if it is found to be completely fit for voting. In these circumstances the large scale irregularities reported in the EVM from all parts of the state indicates that tampering was done with the voting machine by the ruling party, he added.
