Congress leaders in dilema after new State executive

Published on:

The new State executive has created a sort of confusion among the Congress leaders and workers of the State especially among those who are seeking party ticket for November scheduled assembly elections.

The situation arose as a parliamentarian and over a dozen legislators have been included in the new state executive and as per the condition of the party in the State, all the sitting MPs and MlAs are sure to be fielded by the party in the next assembly and general elections.

Party sources said the situation has gone confusing, as the new State executive announced is contrary to what party vice president Rahul Gandhi said during his visit last month.

Barely a month after Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi had instructed Madhya Pradesh Congress leaders to quit organisational posts if they wish to contest assembly elections, the State Congress on Tuesday revamped the State executive overlooking Nehru – Gandhi scion commands.

Those who were not occupying any organisational responsibility were happy with the party vice president instructions and those who were holding responsibilities have offered to quit for getting party ticket. But the announcement of new State executive has evaporated the happiness of the faces not holding organisational responsibilities while those who were holding party posts and were depressed after Gandhi’s instructions have come to life again.

A newly appointed assistant spokesman of the State Congress Sajid Qureshi Shanu while talking to ‘The Pioneer’ said, “The resolution that Congressmen holding organisational responsibilities would not contest elections was adopted in the Jaipur summit, but after that Karnataka elections were held and this was not brought into practice, similar approach would be adopted in Madhya Pradesh.”Qureshi further said, “The Jaipur resolution was in all probabilities meant for the general elections and not for the assembly elections.”

On the other hand the senior leaders of the party are happy with the developments as they feel that this would brought back their importance that was otherwise vanished as Gandhi during his visit said that the ticket distribution would be a transparent procedure and that recommendations of leaders won’t work. Now, these leaders feels that the old traditions would continue and they would have their say like earlier days in getting tickets and party posts for their near and dear ones.

Party workers also feel that the Gandhi dictate would not be given preference in the state affairs and things would

continue as earlier.
