Congress leader from MP Jararia demands for making word ‘Rashtrapati’ as neuter gender

A Congress leader from Madhya Pradesh has written a letter to President Draupadi Murmu demanding neuter-gender of the word Rashtrapati, in fact, recently Congress’s Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had commented on the word President, due to which a political war of words erupted between BJP and Congress. Choudhary, blaming it on his unfamiliarity with Hindi has apologised to the President. Now, the Congress leader has written a letter to the President in this matter.

Recently, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury called the President, ‘Rashtrapatni’, after which the Congress leader was fiercely surrounded by the BJP leaders, the CM himself had also called it indecent, after that the Congress leader had also apologised, now in this case MP Congress leader and currently the spokesperson of Madhya Pradesh Congress Debashish Jararia has written a letter to the President.

In the letter, he said that the whole country is proud of you becoming the second woman President of India and the first tribal woman President of the country. Your tenure will prove to be a milestone in the history of Indian democracy. The opposition along with the ruling party is overwhelmed by the election to the highest office of your country, but the controversy that has arisen in the country to address you is very disappointing.

He further stated that there was a gender error while addressing you in Parliament by the Leader of Congress Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

He also immediately apologised for this linguistic error and as a citizen of the country and a party worker, I am also apologetic to you.

He also wrote in the letter that as a common citizen of India, I request you that the word President needs to be neuter gender  to end this topic. He has given some examples to say that when a term is displaying sexuality, it has been replaced with a neuter gender word.

He has written about the use of chairperson in place of the word chairman in English. In the end, he has written a humble appeal to replace the word President with a neuter gender word.
