Absconding Congress corporator of ward number 59 was sent to jail by the court for producing fake caste certificate on Tuesday; accused was arrested late on Monday night.
Congress corporator of ward 59 Fakira Kachke was booked for producing fake caste certificate and claiming corporator seat thrice in the municipal corporation elections.
After it was found in the investigation that the caste certificate produced is fake a case under section 420 of the IPC was registered by the police and later in the investigation it was found that the certificate was not having signature of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM).
The matter surfaced after allegations were raised by Tulsiram who was defeated by the accused and he lodged complaint with the senior officials in police and administration. After the complaint was received Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Govindpura was handed over the verification of the caste certificate who found that the certificate was produce fraudulently and based on the finding of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) a case was registered by the Govindpura police.
The accused went absconding after the case was registered by Govindpura police in the month of August this year and remain absconding for the past two months and on Monday night the police were successful in arresting the missing accused.
Accused owns a shop in Anna Nagar and deals in scrap. He had contested municipal elections on the ticket of Congress twice and once on the ticket of Samajwadi Party. The people involved in facilitating the fake caste certificate would be searched.
