Cong vows to stand by farmers

Published on:

Congress stood firmly with the farmers of the State in the hour of crisis and is vowed to fight for their cause, said Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president and MP Arun Yadav in a statement here on Tuesday.

Yadav said, “The unseasoned rain and hailstorms last days have ruined the rabi crops in the state. The peasants suffered with this natural disaster are disgusted with the Shivraj Singh Chouhan led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government of the State over its failure to initiate survey to estimate their losses.”

Yadav further said that the comprehensive, accurate and fair survey for relief and compensation to the farmers that should have been started till now has not been started. This has developed a sense among the farming community of the state that like previous years the Chouhan Government would defraud them in giving compensation, relief and insurance amount. Due to this attitude of the State Government the farmers are getting frustrated and disappointed and are forced to commit suicide, he added.

He said that Congress has decided to stand firmly besides farmers in this hour of crisis and would fight with the BJP government to get justice for them, for this the Congress party would do Gherao of the state assembly on Wednesday.

MPCC vice president Manak Agarwal said that the Gherao would be led by Yadav in which farmers and Congress workers in large number from the neighboring districts of the state capital would take part. The teams of the farmers and Congress workers would gather at Jawahar Bhawan at Roshanpura Square and from there they would proceed to state assembly in the leadership of Yadav, he added.

Agarwal said that the anti farmer BJP Government of the state is not taking interest towards the crisis of the farmers and is not making any efforts for immediate distribution of compensation and payment of insurance money.
