The Congress party protest which was to be undertaken in support on farmers with tractor trollies in Bhopal ended up as a silent protest with leaders holding toy tractors in their hands while sitting before Mahatma Gandhi statue inside MP Assembly campus on Monday.
Congress party had announced to hold a farmers’ protest on the commencement of Assembly’s Winter Session on Monday but the Session was cancelled in an all-party-meeting on Sunday.
However, the in charge of the protest and former MPCC chief Arun Yadav had summoned tractors to his bungalow but in the last moment the party dropped the idea of the protest and instead held a silent protest at Mahatma Gandhi statue inside Assembly campus. Factually, some of the tractor could not get started.
On the occasion, the Congress leaders were seen holding toy tractors in their hands.
However, it was alleged that MPCC chief Kamal Nath had stalled the decision of protest on Monday and only allowed a silent protest at the eleventh hour.
Yadav had affirmed to carry ahead with the protest even after the MP Assembly Session was adjourned.
It was apparent that Yadav wasn’t happy with the decision as he said, “Our preparations were complete but the BJP Government apprehensive of our protest adjourned the Assembly Session.” He said in accordance with the directives of state head the protest will be undertaken shortly. However, the BJP called it an outcome of Congress infighting.
“Congress has this inherent culture of factionalism and it was evident on Monday. In future, the infighting will rise,” Home Minister Narottam Mishra said.
Congress party which had claimed that protest was called off due to district administration orders of imposing section 144 of CrPC in the Assembly area, refuted infighting allegations.
