Cong seeks rollback of VAT hike on petrol

State Congress has criticised the increase in VAT on petrol in Madhya Pradesh and demanded its immediate rollback.

Former leader of opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Ajay Singh while criticising the BJP Government’s decision to increase VAT on petrol in the State demanded from CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan to immediately roll back the order.

Singh in a statement on Wednesday said, “The Chief Minister after emptying the State’s treasury by wasting hard earned money of the tax payers of the State on his branding and functions has now started recovery drive from the people of the State and in the process the State Government has levied additional VAT on petrol.”

Singh added that Chief Minister is giving billions of rupees to private agencies for his branding that he should stop immediately at the place of doing forcible recovering from the pockets of the people. The financial condition of the State has become disreputable. Centre has stopped the right of the state and the sum provided to the drought hit farmers that has halt the development of the State. The Centre has provided the relief amount to other States but has not given a single penny to the State, he added.

He said that State Government sent the study teams to access the drought losses at that point of time when there was no trace of it in the fields and the farmers were busy in preparation of the Rabbi crop.

He said that the roar of Chief Minister has stopped now; he has stopped writing letters to the Centre that he used to write for every small thing, now he has gone silent due to his political interests.

This also exposes that before 2014 he used to do drama by shedding only crocodile tears and he does not have anything to do with neither with the farmers nor with the people of State, he added.
