Cong secy revolts against Digvijay's RS nomination

All India Congress Committee secretary and MP Sajjan Singh Verma raising a banner of revolt against his own party, has questioned the nomination of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh as party’s official nominee for the Rajya Sabha.

Notably, the AICC on Monday nominated Digvijay Singh for the upper house. On this, Singh told that he was willing to contest lok Sabha polls, but he accepted the will of the high command. Talking to the media persons at his residence on Tuesday, Verma who has the knack of courting   controversies for his off-the-cuff remarks, while questioning his party’s decision over selection of party’s nominees for the Rajya Sabha, said the party has made those as Rajya Sabha nominees in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat who been instrumental in the party’s debacle in these states.

All those who have been party’s nominees for the Rajya Sabha in these states are above 70 years of age. Taking a dig at his own party’s erstwhile chief minister in Madhya Pradesh, Verma revealed that Digvijay Singh had himself approached the party’s higher-ups for the Rajya Sabha ticket as he knew well that if he would contest the lok Sabha election, he would get defeated.

Advocating the need of sending younger candidates in the Rajya Sabha, Sonkutch MP said that it would  have probably been better for the party, had it had made All India Women Congress Committee  chairperson Shobha Oza or for that matter the newly appointed Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president Arun Yadav as party’s nominees for the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh.
