Cong raises pitch on MPPEB scam

Published on:

In the absence of leader of the Opposition Satyadev Katare, the Congress members strongly raised the issue of Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam in the State Assembly on Tuesday.

On the first day of the House on Monday, it was clearly evident that Katare had agreed to allow the House to continue with the Question Hour so that the question related to the issue comes up. Congress member Shankarlal Tiwari, who had raised voice right after entering the House on Monday, again resorted to the same process on Tuesday. In absence of Katare, Tiwari continued to raise the issue, demanding CBI probe in the MPPEB scam. This time, other members also joined Tiwari. When Mukesh Nayak joined the members, they became more furious. They reached the well several times and disrupted the House.

Incidentally, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was also not in the House. Speaker Sitasharan Sharma told the House that both the Chief Minister and leader of the Opposition have intimated him that they would not be able to remain present in the House till 4 pm. Notably, on Monday, when Katare had asked Sunderlal Tiwari to allow Question Hour to proceed, nobody from the Congress camp had objected.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra several times, amidst the din by Congress members, told the House that the leader of the Opposition had expressed content that three questions related to MPPEB scam issue were taken on Monday. However, in the absence of Katare, Mukesh Nayak addressed mediapersons and read out his complete speech that he could not in the House during discussion on vote-on-account. He claimed that the Congress legislators are united and they would continue cornering the State Government in the House in the sessions to come.

Though Nayak did not speak out clearly about Wednesday's strategy of the Cong, but indicated that the issue was important and Congress would not stop till CBI probe is ordered in the MPPEB scam.
