Cong puts up united show at Vidisha

Posing a strong challenge to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its stronghold Vidisha, State Congress blew the bugle for Assembly election through a massive rally on Monday. This was the first Parivartan rally of the Congress in the leadership of Congress’ State Election Campaign Committee chairman Jyotiraditya Scindia.

The Congress rally once again saw the united face of the Congress leaders as all the Satraps of the State including party general secretary and former chief minister Digvijay Singh, State Election Campaigning Committee chairman and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister Kamalnath, MPCC president and MP Kantilal Bhuria, MP Satyavrat Chaturvedi, leader of Opposition in State Assembly Ajay Singh and AICC secretary Arun Yadav attended it.

Congress general secretary in-charge for Madhya Pradesh Mohan Prakash, addressing the mammoth gathering on the occasion, said, “Till now we were of the view that there is wave of change in the State, but the huge turnout here suggests that it is not a wave but it is storm for change of power that is blowing here and the people of the State are eager to throw BJP out of power.”

Prakash said that the BJP Government of the State had cheated all sections of the society. Alleging massive corruption in the central sponsored schemes the Congress general secretary said that the Shivraj Singh-led Government was neck deep in corruption and was petting its back by labelling its name on central schemes, but now the BJP stand expose before the people of the State who were desperate to oust BJP from power, he added.

Digvijay Singh charged the Shivraj Singh Chouhan Government of indulging in corruption to the tune of over Rs 100 crore, and said the time had now come for a change. “BJP doesn’t want honest party members; it wants middlemen, contractors and all those who can mint money. I demand that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan should get his assets and possessions verified because only then the people would know the extent of corruption,” Digvijay Singh added.

“I challenge Shivraj Singh Chouhan to file a defamation case against us, and we will prove it in court how much black money you have earned. There is corruption of more than 100 crore rupees in areas like health, education, road, food and many other areas, and we are ready to prove it. The time has come for a change,” he added.

Kamalnath said the party that came to power in 2003 with the promise of changing the face of the State after being in power for 10 years ruined the State and showed its real face and character.
