Cong protests against undeclared power cuts

Congress workers from the State capital led by former MPCC spokesman Arif Masood on Thursday staged protest against undeclared power cuts in the State at Madhya Pradesh Central Area Power Distribution Company’s (MPCAPDC) headquarters at Govindpura.

The Congress workers gathered near Apsara Talkies from where they moved ahead in a rally to seize the MPCAPDC headquarters.

A memorandum was also handed over on the occasion to the MPCAPDC — Managing Director demanding to immediately stop the undeclared power cuts causing trouble to the people of the State.

Masood while addressing the gathering on the occasion alleged, “On the one hand the Shivraj Singh Chouhan Government claims of providing round the clock electricity in the State under its much publicised Atal Jyoti scheme and on the other hand, power cuts for hours have become a common phenomenon in the State capital itself. If this is the condition of State capital than it could well be judged that what would be the condition of power supply bin other parts of the State.”

Masood further said that whole of the State is hit by the undeclared and declared power cuts and the condition is worst that the farmers of the State are not even getting 10 hours of power for the irrigation purpose. In Bhopal the people are hit by undeclared power cuts in the nights, especially the residents of old city are targeted with these power cuts, he added.

The senior Congress leader referring to the problems faced by the people of State capital said that these undeclared power cuts are also affecting the water supply of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation as these power cuts are made when the BMC supplies water, thus, proving to be double trouble for city residents. Small traders and industries are also getting affected due to the undeclared power cuts in the State, he added.

He said that we came on the roads to protest in view of the problems faced by the common man due to the undeclared power cuts in the summers. People are facing many problems due to the power cuts in this heated weather, he added.

Corporator Mohammed Aziz, Bhopal District Congress Committee (women) Raeesa Mallik, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) – Secretary, Abdul Nafees, DCC general secretary Amjad Anjum and other leaders with hundreds of party workers were present on the occasion.
