The State Congress has demanded a CBI inquiry and registration of criminal offence against State Health Minister, Chief Secretary of State and Principal Secretary Health in connection with substandard medicines purchase case. Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee chief spokesman KK Mishra while opening front against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government of the State alleged that the State Health department’s annual report admitted that during last five years 396 cases of substandard medicines were found in the State.
“This is a serious issue and Health Minister Narottam Mishra and principal secretary health are directly responsible for the death of hundreds of innocent patients due to these substandard medicines. Hence criminal case should be registered against them and CBI inquiry of the case should be ordered,” he added.
Mishra questioned as to what reasons did the state government has not registered an FIR against the suppliers of these substandard medicines. Mishra in a statement here on Monday said that Mishra while presenting report card of his department last days claimed that in the past four years only one substandard medicine has been found. Now the annual report of his department has revealed that 396 substandard medicines were found during the past five years. The departmental report has exposed the state government and the health minister, he added.
He alleged that a well organized gang consisting of drug mafia, leaders of ruling party and bureaucracy is working in the purchase of substandard medicines, that has pushed hundred of innocent patients in the jaws of death for their monetary benefits. The BJP leaders who are hand in gloves with the bureaucracy has crossed all limits and are neck deep in corruption and for their monetary benefits do not even care to push innocent people in clutches of death, he added. The Congress leader said that in the wake of departmental report criminal case should be registered against Mishra, chief secretary of the state and the principal secretary of health department.
