A 32-year-old Congress party worker was attacked at Shabri Nagar by over half a dozen miscreants with wooden sticks and rods during a gathering for upcoming local bodies election; Kamla Nagar police have started search for the miscreants.According to the police, the victim, Neeraj Pal Ahirwar, was attacked by unidentified miscreants with wooden sticks and rods and escaped the spot. The injured was taken to hospital where his condition is reportedly stable.
In the initial investigation, it was found that Neeraj was conducting meeting for upcoming local bodies election and is close aide of Congressmen Monu Saxena who is former counsilor. At the time of meeting Neeraj was attacked by miscreants hitting him in his head and was beaten badly.The victim lodged a complaint with Gautam Nagar police and based on the complaint and after the preliminary investigation, the police have registered a case of assault against unidentified miscreants and have started further investigation. The accused are yet to be identified.Saxena said that Neeraj has sustained injury in his head and got his leg fractured. He failed to identify the miscreants as possibly they were not from the area or nearby area. The condition of victim is reportedly stable.
Police would check CCTV footage to establish the identity of the miscreants.After the local bodies elections preparation have gathered pace meeting and garnering support in favour of local candidates has accelerated and attack is likely be one of the reasons but old enmity or dispute could not be ruled out said police.
