All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretaries duo in-charge for Madhya Pradesh Sanjay Nirupam and Rakesh Kaliya have started making a damage control exercise over the discontent cropped up due to the method adopted by the party to distribute tickets in the local body polls.
An important meeting of Congress in this regard was held on Thursday at party’s State headquarters. Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president Arun Yadav, leader of Opposition in State Assembly Satyadev Katare and AICC secretary Sajjan Singh Verma were especially present in the meeting.
Brainstorming over resolution of the discontent before November 12 was done in this meeting while it was decided that the ticket distribution would be done in next two three days.
Actually there is discontent among the leaders and workers of the party as till now the election committee to select and finalize names of candidates have not been formed. The result is that the powers of ticket distribution in the entire state would remain with the state president Arun Yadav. The ticket aspirants reached here from different local bodies have registered their objections over it before Kaliya on Wednesday. The reports of the observers appointed by state Congress and the names sent by the District Congress Committees are directly reaching to the state president. But there is no committee to take final decision on the names reaching through different channels.
According to the chief spokesman of the state Congress KK Mishra coordination committees have been formed at district level. For most of the posts there are single names but the posts and places on that there would be more than one name than the state president would take final decision before holding discussions with the leaders of the concerned district, he added.
He said that besides MPPEB mega scam excessive electricity bills would be the main issues of Congress in the run for the local body polls, Mishra said.
