The State Congress office was found locked on the day of grand old party’s one of the key leaders and former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi’s death anniversary on Saturday, October 31 as late as till 10.30 am.
The matter came to fore when the senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Home Minister of State Babulal Gaur reached at Indira Square opposite to State Congress office to pay tributes to former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary.
Gaur after paying floral tributes to the former Minister said that Indira Gandhi was a great leader of the country who taught lesson to Pakistan and divided it into two pieces. Since then Pakistan could not recover and stand up before India. It was due to this achievement that senior BJP leader and former Prime Minister and the then leader of Opposition Atal Bihari Vajpyee equated her with Goddess Durga, he added.
Meanwhile, Congressmen also reached there and were amazed to see the Home Minister and former Chief Minister Gaur paying tributes to Indira.
When The Pioneer asked the chief spokesperson of Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) KK Mishra that whether the State Congress office was locked till late in the morning he said, “Our office opens at 9 - 9.30 and it opened at its routine time, Gaur reached there at 7 am that is why the office was closed.”
Mishra further said that Gaur is Home Minister and he should have informed us in advance that he failed to do.
However, Gaur later talking to The Pioneer over telephone said, “I reached there after participating in ‘Run for Unity’ programme that was at 9 am. After participating in the run I first went to my bungalow and from there to Indira Square, then it might have been 10.15 am or 10.30 am. When I went there, the State Congress office was closed and there was no one around it.”
