The Congress party has alleged that Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) is turning out to be an illusion for the registered labourers of the State.
Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) spokesman Ravi Saxena in a statement here on Wednesday said, “Due to excessive use of machines in the MNREGA works lakhs of laborers from the State have migrated to other States in search of employment.”
Saxena further said that that corruption is at its peak in MNREGA and large scale falsification is being done in it. According to Union Rural Development Ministry’s report for the year 2015-16 job cards of 21 lakh 62 thousand and
3 hundred have been cancelled by terming them fake, getting unemployed due to that the laborers of the state are compelled to migrate from the State.
He said that the State Government is also not able to provide jobs to the remaining registered laborers of the state and the condition is so much critical that the state government was not able to provide full 100 days labour to less than 1 per cent of the registered laborers families in the year 2016-17. This is also a concerning issue that the laborers who are getting work under the MNTREGA their working days are also continuously reducing. The working average of laborers in the year 2015-16 was 46 days that reduced to just 38 days in the year 2016-17, he added.
The State Congress spokesman said that reducing average of working days the state government is not able to provide work to the needy as 30 lakh 24 thousand families asked for work under the MNREGA in the year 2015-16 but the government could provide work to only twenty four thousand families. Te condition is that the question of livelihood is becoming horrible for the laborers of the state, he added.
