The Congress has indicated that it would deny tickets to its three parliamentarians in the upcoming lok Sabha elections. At present, there are 11 lok Sabha members of Congress from Madhya Pradesh.

Among the panels of probable names for these three new candidates, former leader of the Opposition in the State assembly Ajay Singh and AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh and his brother laxman Singh have been included.

Party sources said that in the meeting of State election committee that was held in New Delhi on Tuesday, it has been unanimously decided that six sitting MPs would be repeated. They include- Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia from Guna, Kamal Nath from Chhindwara, Sajjan Singh Verma from Dewas, Kantilal Bhuria from Ratlam, Gajendra Singh Rajukhedi from Dhar, Rajesh Nandini Singh from Shahdol.

Besides, several members of the committee were against repeating sitting MP Premchand Guddu from Ujjain and decision on this seat has been left on the high command. The committee also could not reach any conclusion whether PCC president Arun Yadav should be fielded or not.

Besides, the decision on Indore and Mandsaur constituencies would be taken on Rahul Gandhi’s formula with consensus by the party workers. Sources claim that earlier, Hoshangabad constituency was included with Indore, but later, it was replaced with Mandsaur.

Sources say that no decision could be taken on Rajgarh and Mandla constituencies. Digvijay Singh had been advocating the candidature of sitting MP Narayan Singh Amlave from Rajgarh, but the committee found laxman Singh as winnable candidate. This is why, Amlave’s name has also been placed in the panel along with laxman Singh.

Party insiders claim that names of Digvijay Singh and his brother laxman Singh have been placed in panels for both Vidisha and Sagar constituencies. Besides, Ajay Singh’s name has been kept in the panel for Rewa and Sidhi constituencies. Similarly, Scindia has been placed for Gwalior constituency.
