Madhya Pradesh Congress has alleged that the crop in several parts of the State has damaged due to hailstorm, but the farmers are still waiting for survey regarding the loss.
State Congress president Arun Yadav and leader of Opposition Satyadev Katare in a joint statement said that crops of wheat, mustard and gram have been damaged due to hailstorm and the farmers are facing problems as their livelihood, loan repayment, marriage and education of their children, depends on the crops only.
The leaders appealed State Government to conduct an immediate survey of the actual loss and to ensure an arrangement of releasing compensation within fixed time limit. The development regarding survey and compensation payment should be monitored everyday by Chief Secretary in order to avoid any delay or irregularity.
They alleged that the Revenue Department has been insensitive towards the farmers affected by natural disasters which led to delay in survey of the loss of crops and in the past it has been witnessed that real sufferers were not included in the survey while those who suffered slight loss got full compensation. Congress will leave no stone unturned for raising the voice of farmers, they added.
Ridiculing Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s ‘Aao Banaye Madhya Pradesh’ programme, both the leaders alleged that he is trying to get political advantage, but instead, he should concentrate on providing relief to farmers.
They further alleged that the regular functioning related to public welfare have come to standstill, as the administrative staff in districts is being deployed in political programmes.
