Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here on Sunday alleged that the Congress party is responsible for the untimely death of Women reservation Bill.
Former Central minister and parliamentarian Sumitra Mahajan in a statement here said that last session of 15th lok Sabha is about to get over but Women Reservation Bill is still pending and hold Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government responsible for its failure.
BJP national secretary Sudha Malaiya said that only 11% in lok Sabha and 10.6% seats in Rajya Sabha are represented by women in the largest democracy of the world which is the reason for India being 108th in the world list.
Mahajan said BJP is determined for women reservation bill and is ready to render unconditional support to government but Congress never seemed serious in this regard. Proceedings are being discontinued since budget session in lok sabha due to lack of political will and unsuccessful floor management of Congress, she added.
She said parliamentarians of Cong are disrupting session and have even resorted to no confidence motion. Ruling Govt is responsible for the bill but congress neither managed the board nor could bring its allies to consensus, added Mahajan.
She said BJP is always ready to support the bill and 33 % reservation is given in the party itself. 50 % seats are reserved for women in the local bodies. Rahul Gandhi espouses the policy of women participation in almost all his rallies but the reality reveals the double standard of Congress, she added. She said BJP does what it says and since rule of congress is towards its end BJP will table the bill after assuming office and will get women community their dues.
