Cong holds 'no-confidence meeting'

Taken aback by the dramatic sequence of events on Thursday, Congress attempted to recuperate its breath by holding a ‘no-confidence meeting’ at party’s State headquarters in the State capital on Friday.

Notably, out of 65 party legislators, 14 remained absent from the scene, despite the fact that leader of the Opposition Ajay Singh had on Thursday declared that such a meeting will be held in front of the PCC on Friday. Releasing a 102-page charge-sheet containing details of corruption cases in which the family members of the chief minister are allegedly involved, Ajay Singh said that the sequence of events took place on Thursday, were result of a conspiracy that was hatched by the chief minister to prevent discloser of the names of his family members on the floor of House.

“The drama was staged because he feared that names of his wife Sadhna Singh, brothers Narendra Singh, Rohit Singh and Pradyumn Singh would be disclosed in the assembly and come on the record,” he said, adding that it was not fair to postpone the assembly indefinitely as the no-confidence motion had been added to the agenda of the day’s proceedings.

Notably, the Congress staged mock-proceedings following the happenings of Thursday in the assembly when Choudhary Rakesh Singh had crossed the floor to join ruling party. Its legislator Sanjay Pathak played the role of Choudhary in an attempt to expose the reasons why he deserted the party. The mock assembly proceedings started on 11.30 am and legislator Kalpana Parulekar was first to level charges of corruption against the government.

She said that Food Minister Paras Jain had fraudulently transferred land worth Rs 30 crore in his name. Other party legislators also leveled charges of corruption against the ministers of ruling party. later, Singh told that the party will organize such assemblies in every division of the State. “The party will also launch a campaign to expose Choudhary Rakesh Singh and also to reveal the true face of Bharatiya Janata Party,” he said.
