The State Congress is making all out efforts to regain the Ratlam–Jhabua parliamentary constituency in bypoll scheduled for November 21. The grand old party in order to recapture the seat shouldered the responsibility to former minister Mahesh Joshi, considered an expert in managing the party workers.
Congress candidate and former union minister Kantilal Bhuriya, who lost the 2014 parliamentary election by a huge margin of over one lakh votes is not taking any chances this time and is concentrating on those assembly segments of the constituency that his party lost during the 2013 assembly elections. Besides, the Congress focus is also on those three assembly seats of Ratlam district that troubled the party the most during last parliamentary elections.
Joshi after getting the responsibility to get party victorious from the seat considered as the Congress fort is camping there for last seven days.
Bhuriya margin of loss was the most from the three assembly constituencies Ratlam City, Ratlam Rural and Sailana whereas he got lead from the constituencies falling under Jhabua and Alirajpur districts. That is why Bhuriya and Congress are not leaving any stone unturned on these three seats of Ratlam district to cover up the losses it suffered during 2014 elections.
Notably, by-election to the 24 Ratlam (ST) Parliamentary Constituency is scheduled for November 21. The by-election for Ratlam
lS seat, spread over eight Assembly constituencies of Ratlam, Jhabua and Alirajpur districts, was necessitated
following the death of Dilip Singh Bhuriya, a prominent tribal face of BJP, in June
this year. The seat had been the forte of Congress since Independence. But last time around, former Union Minister and Congress nominee Kantilal Bhuriya lost the election to BJP's Dilip Singh Bhuriya by a margin of 1.12 lakh votes. Prior to it, the Congress had lost the election from the seat to Praja Socialist Party (PSP) in 1977.
