Despite the presence of 14 political parties’ candidates and five independents, there is direct fight between BJP and Congress in Bhopal’s South-West constituency.
Aam Admi Party (AAP) chief ministerial candidate Alok Agrawal is also in the fray from this constituency, but it has little presence.
With different gimmickry in the campaign AAP candidate Alok Agrawal is trying different but having lost the sheen created at National level which created huge uproar across the Nation, is less likely to create impact the contest which would be seen mainly between BJP candidate Umashankar Gupta and Congress candidate PC Sharma.
The Congress nominee PC Sharma is a former legislator has lost election from Bhopal Madhya (Central) constituency. His stronghold area is Bhopal Central constituency which he was not provided to contest this time, making contest tougher for him but he claimed that he was MLA of the same constituency and would not pose any threat to claim victory.
After three consecutive victories in South-West constituency BJP candidate Umashankar Gupta is contesting for the fourth time and is filled with confidence that people have developed confidence and would vote for development which has been done by BJP. The campaigning is in an extensive manner and would assure that the issues would be addressed properly and he would remain accessible.
Congress candidate PC Sharma said that negligence by BJP MLA Gupta has lead to the worsening of the situation; unemployment, lack of development of facilities are issues which the locals have been facing.
AAP candidate Alok Agrawal said that his party has submitted its manifesto as an affidavit stating whatever promises AAP has made to the voters. Poor sanitation, non-development of infrastructure and corruption at every level are among the local issues which have to be addressed.
