The Opposition Congress in Madhya Pradesh raised questions over Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s surprise inspections of the offices to check corruption and termed it as a copy of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) style. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reacting over the Opposition’s reaction said that the Congress was frightened with Chief Minister’s style of working.
Notably, Chouhan has started paying surprise visits to various departments in order to check corruption and provide good governance to the people of the State.
Chouhan, while talking to the media persons on Saturday in the State assembly said, “I am not doing anything new, I am doing surprise checkups and visiting departments ever since I occupied the office of the Chief Minister about eight years ago. During surprise checkups I review working of the departments.”
Chouhan, when told that the Congress was comparing his way of working as following the AAP style of working, said that it has become the habit of the Opposition party to criticise him and his Government as they did not have anything positive to say to people.
BJP MlA Rameshwar Sharma said that surprise checks were special style of the Chief Minister which was very popular among the masses. The Congress was frightened that this style of Chouhan would harm it more in the general elections.
Earlier, the Congress has said that Chouhan and the BJP were following the AAP.
Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman Mukesh Nayak said, “Chouhan is copying the AAP and its Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The BJP fears that the AAP and Kejriwal could stop the bandwagon of its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in the parliamentary elections later this year.”
