Cong fires fresh salvo

The Congress party has taken strong exception to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s sharing dais with an absconding accused of the infamous Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam Gulab Singh Kirar in a community programme in Bareli on Monday. Chief spokesman of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee KK Mishra in a statement here on Tuesday alleged that Chief Minister Chouhan shared dais with the absconding accused of the MPPEB scam Kirar in a community function at Bareli in Raisen district of the State. 

“This has proved once again that the MPPEB scam not only flourished under patronage of Chief Minister, but he is also saving the big fishes involved in the scam that has ruined the future of lakhs of youth of the State,” Mishra added. Mishra further said that this also exposes the Chief Minister’s lie that he says time and again that law would take its own course. Besides, Chief Minister, his cabinet colleague Rampal Singh was also present in the programme, where MPPEB scam accused shared dais with Chief Minister, he added.

He said that Kirar, a close confidant of Chief Minister and accused in the scam has been nominated as member of Other Backward Class Commission (OBC) and has been given status of State minister by Chief Minister. An FIR was registered against him and his son by Gwalior STF on July 16, 2014. 

As per the police documents, he is not only absconding but his bail plea has also been rejected by the High Court. Despite this, sharing of dais in public with an absconding accused by Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleague is direct challenge to the law and police administration, he added.

The senior Congress leader said that on the one hand, Chief Minister, who is surrounded with allegations of his involvement in the MPPEB scam, claims to prove his innocence that law would take its own course and on the other hand, openly shares dais with an accused of the same scam and police and STF remain mute spectator and the Chief Minister also keeps him as member of OBC commission, this exposes Chouhan’s tall claims and proves that he is neck deep involved in the scam.
