Fearing large scale rigging in the bypolls for Ratlam-Jhabua parliamentary and Dewas Assembly constituencies, which would take place on Saturday, the Congress knocked at the door of the Election Commission (EC).
Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Arun Yadav on Friday a day ahead of the polling for Jhabua parliamentary constituency and Dewas assembly constituency led a delegation to Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer and handed over a memorandum demanding special security arrangements and ousting of outsider BJP leaders and workers camping in the constituency so that impartial and independent election could take place.
Yadav in his memorandum to the ECI alleged that though the campaigning has ended in Dewas assembly and Ratlam Jhabua parliamentary constituency on Thursday evening as per the law but the BJP is openly flouting the Model Code of Conduct and is engaged in many illegal activities.
He said that leaders and workers from out of the constituency are prohibited after the campaigning comes to an end and it is necessary for them to leave the constituency. But, we are sorry to inform you that the leaders and workers of the BJP who came for campaigning in the Ratlam Jhabua parliamentary constituency are still camping and working to influence the election. Not only this, despite end of campaigning the BJP workers and leaders are still reaching in the constituency, he added.
He said that armed BJP workers boarded in over 400-500 vehicles have been sent in every village of rural areas of the constituency to frighten the villagers in order to influence polling, in these circumstances fair and impartial polling could not be conducted, hence special arrangements should be made especially for this election.
He said that the local administration including Collector and SP are doing step motherly treatment with the Congress leaders and workers and are tortured to create an atmosphere of fear, hence we request to deploy additional forces to conduct free and fair election on this parliamentary constituency.
