Accusing Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Om Prakash Dhurve of giving wrong statement over violation of model code of conduct, the Opposition Congress demanded strict action against him by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and to dismiss him from the Cabinet by the Chief Minister.

leader of opposition in the state assembly Ajay Singh alleging that Dhurve who is an culprit of violation of Model Code of Conduct during the Bandhavgarh assembly constituency’s by-poll has given wrong statement demanded from the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state to take strict action against him and re-told the chief minister to immediately dismiss him from the cabinet.

Singh in a statement here on Monday said, “Minister Dhurve has wrongly stated that he went to the hotel in Umaria to collect his baggage and has tried to mislead the ECI and the District Electoral Officer who happens to be Collector through his wrong statement. His statement while holding an responsible office of a minister is serious misconduct and for that the state CEO should take strict action against him.”

Singh further said that Minister Dhurve’s official program was released on April 7 in that he was supposed to leave Umaria for Maihar on April 8 at 4 pm and then via Chitrakoot he was supposed to reach Satna for night halt. Hence, his statement that he went to hotel for collecting his baggage is total lie.

He alleged that it is sure that minister Dhurve’s intent was to affect the impartial and independent election through illegal means. That is why he openly flouted Model Code of Conduct and also tried to misuse his ministerial position.

He said, “I have written a letter in this regard to MP CEO and copy of that has also been sent to Chief Electoral Commissioner – New Delhi.”
