Cong complains against BJP over anthem 'misuse'

The State Congress has lodged a complaint with the State Election Commission (SEC) over misuse of Madhya Pradesh Anthem by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates in the urban elections.

Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) spokesman JP Dhanopiya in a written complaint to the SEC Commissioner said, “the process of civic elections is on in the state and the campaigning is at its peak. The BJP candidates are misusing the MP Anthem publicly. The anthem was made on government expenses by the state government and is meant only for government documentation; hence it comes under the category of government property. The use of the MP Anthem by the BJP candidates is open violation of the model code of conduct that is in force.”

Dhanopiya requested the SEC to stop BJP candidates from using the MP Anthem besides enquiry should be done and case of violation of model code of conduct should be registered against all those who are concerned, so that impartial and fare civic elections could be held in the state.

Meanwhile, MPCC president Arun Yadav called on the people of state on the eve of first phase of polling of the two phase urban elections to vote against the misrule and corrupt BJP government of the state and make Congress victorious.

Yadav in a statement here on Thursday said, “the people of state after getting deceived by the BJP in the assembly and parliamentary elections now know the reality of the saffron party. The flowery speeches of chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan could not cover up the increasing corruption, Vyapam scam making youths career dark, deteriorating law and order situation, increasing crime against women, farmers suicides and the BJP stands exposed before the people.”

Yadav said that the need of the hour is that the conscious electorate of the state should vote in favor of Congress to teach a lesson to BJP.
