Congress and BJP workers clashed at Phool Bag square on Monday over burning of effigies of leaders. Congress members claimed that they would burn the effigy of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, if the rival burns the effigy of Sonia Gandhi.
On receipt of information, police force reached the spot and cane-charged the workers of both parties to control the situation. Earlier, while congress was staging dharna at Phool Bag Chauraha against two recent gang rapes, the BJP workers reached there to protest against lowering the age of concern to 16 years in the anti rape bill.
During the demonstration the BJP workers tried to burn effigy of Sonia Gandhi. The Congress workers knowing the efforts of BJP snatched the effigy and turned it into CM’s effigy and tried to burn it. This resulted in the clash between them. A large force of police was send their to handle the situation.
The congress alleged that Madhya Pradesh is becoming the capital of rapes. Though the capital of India Delhi is in news for this but in fact more incident of rapes are taking place in Madhya Pradesh.
The district congress of President Darshan Singh said that the State Government has failed to provide basic amenities to the people and now it has failed to provide even security.
