Cong asks Chouhan to behave like a Chief Minister

Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has alleged that the two-month long Jan Ashirwad Yatra of the Chief Minister would affect development and public welfare works in the State.

“The Jan Ashirwad Yatra is nothing but an exercise in halting governance for two months for electoral benefit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). During these two months the common people will be forced to run from post to pillar between Government offices at various levels from tehsil to the state capital,” said MPCC president Kantilal Bhuria on Monday.

Bhuria said that this was for the first time in 56 years of the state’s history that a Chief Minister was undertaking such a Yatra at the expense of the common people merely for electoral benefit of the ruling party.

Hitting the Chief Minister further, Bhuria said that in the eight years of his term in the office Shivraj Singh Chouhan has made only empty promises and propaganda. “Beyond this, he has done nothing else that could be seen on the faces of the common people of the state. His achievements begin in advertisements and hoardings put up by his party and they also end there. Unfortunately, he has become incapable of understanding this reality,” he said.

In his statement, Bhuria also alleged that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has forgotten the fact that he holds a constitutional office and is behaving like state president of his party rather than Chief Minister of the state.

He also said that due to involvement of the Chief Minister in the yatra, government expense will be incurred in electoral campaign of BJP which is illegal.

“It does not matter if the chief minister’s programme is official or related to his party. Either way government machinery or funds will be involved in it. The experience of prior yatras proves this. BJP will have to pay the price of this misuse of public funds,” he said.
