A delegation of the district Congress met with Divisional Commissioner KK Khare under the leadership of DCC president Darshan Singh and discussed about the falling standard of Gwalior Trade Fair and allotment of shops in the mela on exorbitant prices in the black.

The Congress team submitted a memorandum to Khare and informed him that late Madhav Rao Scindia had first started Gwalior Trade Fair in the year 1925 to increase the trade and benefit to the farmers. Scindia provided many facilities to the traders to increase the transactions. The Gwalior Trade Fair authority was established under the guidance of Jyotiraditya Scindia to increase the opportunity for progress of trade. But during the last few years the Gwalior Trade Fair has become a victim of irregularities so it was necessary to remove the irregularities and provide facility to the tourist and trader.

Meanwhile, senior leaders of the BJP did not attend the inauguration function of Trade Fair on Tuesday. The names of Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, State Ministers Yashodhra Raje Scindia, Narottam Mishra, Maya Singh and lal Singh Arya were included in the list of invitees at the inaugural function, but they did not turn up.

The only VVIP present on this occasion was the Governor of Haryana Kaptan Singh Solanki. Only 10 per cent preparations have been made so far. It would take around 15 to 20 days for opening all the shops.
