Both, the ruling BJP and the Congress have demanded re-polling at several polling booths across Madhya Pradesh.
First, the Congress sought re-polling at places where technical snags caused delay upto three hours. As the polling ended, the BJP also joined in seeking re-polling at booths where the technical snag delayed upto around three to four hours in Satna and violence marred Bhind district.
While talking to media persons at the PCC Headquarters in the evening, PCC Chief Kamal Nath said, “I am glad, both the election and BJP passed off peacefully.”
He claimed that the tormented voters of MP have offered a fitting reply to BJP government and handsome poll percentage is evident of this, he claimed.
The Congress MP chief flayed the Election Commission in conducting First Level Checks of voting machines properly, alleged that there EVMs and other devices generated snags on large scale and even the replaced ones turned out to be faulty which EC officers accepted.
“We demand that re-polling should be ordered where technical delays stalled polling for upto three hours as it denied several voters the chance to cast their vote,” demanded Nath.
On being asked the possible number of seats the Congress was heading to win, Nath said he had given a figure of 140 seats earlier but seeing the voting trend, we could be in for some surprising results this time.
Nath said, the Congress had raised 150 complaints with the EC over various anomalies.
BJP after the polling ended came forward handing an application to EC seeking re-polling where the voting was stopped for three to four hours due to problems in EVMs.
The party saying the polling was disrupted for long hours in Satna said re-polling was necessary.
The party also cited example of Bhind where it deems the polling was marred by widespread violence and disruption caused by miscreants.
