Concluding the State Working Committee meeting of the women cell of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here on Monday, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, "Women cell would lead the awareness campaign to pave way for the social and political change in the country. BJP is not doing politics for getting power. Instead, its mission is betterment of the common man and to bring smile on the faces of poor."
He further said that the western culture has served pollution in our society and we need to revive our age old culture, traditions, women's dignity and respect of elders.
The State Government would soon organise a national level workshop to discuss ways and means to control increasing social distortion, sex crimes and atrocities on women.
Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country where punishments were handed in the minimum period in the cases of women atrocities. Nine criminals have been punished with gallows till now in such cases.
But the social evils could not be curbed by only depending on law, he added.
The Chief Minister said that special provisions would be made in state's proposed women policy so that the social outlook could be changed. We need to make liquor ban in the state a huge success.
The State Government has decided that no new liquor shop would be allowed to open in the state and no permission would be given for the opening of liquor factories in the state. The need of the hour is to change the existing mindset. As a political party, it is our important responsibility and the women cell will have to play its constitutive role in shouldering this responsibility, he added.0
