A play that explored themes of isolation, loneliness, miscommunication as anathematisation, social disparity and dehumanisation in a commercial world ‘Zoo’ was staged on the fourth day of the comedy theatre festival at Shaheed Bhawan Auditorium.
A comedy play Zoo (Chidiya Ghar) was presented before the theatre lovers of the city here on Tuesday, leaving the audiences laugh their hearts out all through the performance.
Directed by Anand Mishra, the play is written by a renowned writer and author Hemant Deolaker.
The play was presented by the artists of Saghan Society for Culture and Welfare, Bhopal.
The play is a sad story of a common man who is announced to be an animal instead of a man.
The mixture of dramatical sequences, comedy and satire over system the play overall appears to be a complete entertainment package for the audiences.
Now the story is about a jobless person. This common man who is seeking a job anywhere he can get one.
As he was searching for the job in a newspaper, he comes to know that there is a job in a museum.
Soon he goes there for an interview but is told by the watchman that he could not get this job.
After knowing this too he still goes in to give an interview. As he was facing the questions, he was asked whether he is a human being or not. He is asked to submit the documents that may prove that he is a human.
He goes for the paper work but the officer asks him for the money after knowing that he does not have any money, the officer suggests him that he should bring three people as witness who can prove that he is a human.
As he arranges for three people they define his nature traits as simple as a cow, as loyal as a dog and also other an9imals. So finally, the common is proven to be an animal instead of a human.
While talking to The Pioneer, director of the play Ananad Mishra said, “Of course every human may have nature traits as like an animal, but this play highlights the mismanagement of the system and how a common man has to prove himself that he is a human being through documents. Still this system does not bare him and do whatever they could just to trouble him.”
