Women and Child Development Minister Maya Singh has directed all Collectors to get toilets constructed in the districts under their supervision. She said the State Government had released a model map of building construction mentioning facilities to be provided in Anganwadi buildings. It should be ensured that they are constructed accordingly. Smt. Singh has given these directives in letter sent to collectors.
Minister Singh said that during recent field visits, she noticed that aganwadi buildings are not being constructed in accordance with model map and materials being used in them are sub-standard. She said that arrangements for clean drinking water, pucca platform and sink in kitchen, child-friendly toilet, wash basin, waterproof layer on floor and walls, better ventilation and light should be made in Anganwadi buildings.
Singh has desired collectors to include matter of Anganwadi building’s construction as a permanent minute in the agenda for review meetings. Whenever district officers go to field visits, they should be directed to inspect under construction or constructed Anganwadi buildings. She said that a separate meeting of construction agencies should be convened where they should be informed about construction of buildings as per model map. Otherwise, payments to them should be withheld.
