In a meeting of Blindness Control Society, Bhopal Collector Nishant Warwade took the pledge of donating eyes by filling a form (prescribed for the purpose) given by Dr BK Agrawal of Blindness Control Society. Raising the slogan ‘Charity begins at home’, Warwade said that first he will take the pledge of eye donation and then he would urge others to follow him.
With Warwade other district officers present in the meeting also received the forms of eye donation and assured that by next Monday they will fill the form with their own will and submit it to Dr BK Agrawal. Dr Agrawal, later in the meeting said that the eyes of the donor can only be provided to the blind, if the eye is received within few hours of donor’s death. He urged the people to pledge for donating eyes as it can help the needy. He further said that those who have not taken the pledge can also donate their eyes and for the purpose, the family members of the donor or probable donor need to be aware in this regard.
