Cold mornings continue, rain expected in Rewa, Shahdol

Published on:

Cold winds have intensified across Madhya Pradesh, leading to a significant drop in both day and night temperatures. In Kalyanpur, Shahdol, the mercury plunged below 5 degrees, marking one of the coldest nights in the state.

The chilly weather is expected to persist on Tuesday, with particularly cold mornings and nights. However, a gradual rise in temperature is anticipated from Tuesday night, with an increase of 3 to 4 degrees. Between January 28 and 31, days are expected to be warmer, while nights will remain cold.

According to the Meteorological Department, a shift in weather patterns is likely from February 1, with the possibility of rain in eastern and southern districts, including Rewa, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Sagar, Gwalior, Chambal, and Narmadapuram divisions. This change is attributed to a Western Disturbance. Meanwhile, Indore, Bhopal, and Ujjain divisions are expected to experience clear weather.

Earlier, southeasterly winds had reduced the cold spell across the state, causing a noticeable rise in temperatures for a week. However, from Friday, temperatures began to drop again, with nighttime mercury levels falling significantly. On Saturday-Sunday night, temperatures dipped below 5 degrees in several areas. Cold winds were also observed during the day on Sunday, though the drop in temperature was minimal, with only a 1 to 2-degree decrease in many cities.

Among major cities, Gwalior recorded the lowest temperature at 6.2 degrees, followed by Bhopal at 8.2 degrees, Jabalpur at 8.8 degrees, Ujjain at 11.4 degrees, and Indore at 13.6 degrees.

Kalyanpur remained the coldest in the state, with a minimum temperature of 4.9 degrees. Other regions, such as Rewa, Rajgarh-Naugaon, Umaria, Khajuraho, Guna, Satna, Tikamgarh, Mandla, Pachmarhi, and Sidhi, also experienced cold nights, with temperatures ranging between 5.4 and 9.4 degrees.

The fluctuating weather patterns highlight the need for residents to stay prepared for sudden changes, especially as the possibility of rain looms in early February.
