Congress parliamentarian from Guna, Jyotiraditya Scindia in a letter to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday urged to send Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) for medical colleges in Shivpuri and Chhindwara to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) to pave way for the opening of these colleges.

Scindia in his letter to Chouhan said, “I am enclosing herewith letter of deputy secretary (medical education) Union Health and Family Welfare Department Devesh Patel written to Principal Secretary medical education Madhya Pradesh Government dated April 20, 2015 asking the pending MoUs from the State Government for the already approved medical colleges at Shivpuri and Chhindwara, so that the Government of India could transfer necessary amount to the State Government.”

Scindia further said, “As you know that both these medical colleges were sanctioned with five medical colleges Vidisha, Ratlam, Shahdol, Khandwa and Datia in February 2014 due to our efforts by the then health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in the UPA 2 regime.

The Bhumipujan of the Shivpuri medical college was also performed on February 27, 2014 and 12 hectare of land was also allotted for it by the order of Shivpuri Collector on July 10, 2014.”

He said that on only this but the medical education department issued orders on March 10, 2014 for appointment of medical officers of both these colleges. Dr PK Saraswat was appointed the MO of Shivpuri medical college while Dr AK Sharma was appointed MP of Chhindwara medical college, he added.

The former union minister said but later due to some unknown reasons the State Government sent MoUs of all other medical colleges to the centre except for Shivpuri and Chhindwara medical colleges. On earlier occasions also I have told you to start proceedings for opening of these medical colleges as they are important as per the social status of these regions. Hence it is requested to respond to the GoI letter and send the MoUs of these colleges so that work could be started for these colleges, he added.
