The State Congress has urged Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to make public his social and family relations with Shakti Singh, one of the main accused in the infamous Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam.

Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee chief spokesman KK Mishra in a statement here on Wednesday said, “The Chief Minister should tell the people of the State that what are his social and family relations with one of the biggest business tycoons of Gwalior division and president of Madhya Pradesh Kirar Samaj - Gulab Singh Kirar, whose son Shakti Singh is one of the main accused in the infamous MPPEB scam.”

Mishra further said that Gwalior police has named Shakti Singh in the scam on the basis of the statement of the kingpin of the scam from Gwalior division Dr Dipak Yadav, who is son-in-law of former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Harisingh Yadav.

He said that a couple of days back Gwalior police called him for interrogation but released him under pressure from the Chief Minister. This also shows how impartial the investigation of the scam is, he added.

He repeated his allegations that after figuring of many high profile persons’ names in the scam the police and the Special Task Force (STF) are under tremendous pressure and only small fishes are targeted while the bigger crocodiles are left out of the investigations. The release of Shakti Singh only because he is a relative of the Chief Minister and son of State president of Kirar Samaj shows under how much pressure the investigating agencies are, he added.

The senior Congress leader said that he has come to know that Gulab Singh Kirar is also having business relations with the brother-in-law of the Chief Minister and this being the reason that despite his son’s name figuring in the scam Shakti Singh was released, under pressure from the Chief Minister.
