Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will perform bhoomi poojan of 9 Micro lift Irrigation schemes costing Rs  7,035.38 crore under the Narmada Valley Development from September 5 to 7. More than 2.50 lakh hectare area, currently deprived of irrigation through canals will come under the Micro lift Irrigation system to be constructed at low cost and in short time as compared to other irrigation systems.

The Narmada Valley Development Authority has developed a new and useful alternative in the form of Micro lift Irrigation in place of traditional system of construction of dams, reservoirs and canals for expansion of irrigation facility. Under this, water will be supplied by lifting it from the existing dams, reservoirs, canals and incessant Narmada river to those regions, where irrigation is not possible through canals.

The entire water distribution system is based on pipelines under these innovative schemes. Farmers will get 20 meter pressurized water at every 2.50 hectare area. This facility would help farmers to use micro irrigation i.e. drip or sprinkler system to irrigate their land. The CM will perform bhoomi poojan of Bhikangaon Binjalwada scheme of 50,164 hectare irrigation capacity worth Rs  745 crore at Bhikangaon (Khargone district) on September 5.

Similarly, bhoomi poojan of 5 combined expansion schemes Killod, Kodwar, Bhurlay, Pama khedi and Punasa of 17,195 hectare irrigation capacity costing Rs  282.95 crore at Punasa and Jawar Micro lift Irrigation scheme of 26000 hectare irrigation capacity worth Rs  466.91 at Jawar (Khandwa district) will be performed by the Chief Minister on September 6.

Besides, on September 7, the Chief Minister will perform bhoomi poojan at Petlawad (Jhabua district) for Narmada, Jhabua, Petlawad, Thandla and Sardarpur Micro lift irrigation scheme of 57,422 hectare irrigation capacity costing Rs  2050.70 crore.

On the same day, Chouhan will perform bhoomi poojan of significant Narmada-Kalisindh link scheme of Narmada –Malwa campaign at Sonkachh. A total of one lakh hectare area of Dewas, Sonkachh, Hatpipaliya, Shujalpur and Ashta tahsils of Sehore, Dewas and Shajapur district will be benefitted from the Narmada –Kalisindh first phase scheme. A cost of Rs  3489.82 crore is estimated on construction of this scheme.
