CM to lay stone for bio-fertiliser unit in Jabalpur

On the seventh day of the Krishi Mahotsav being held as part of efforts to make agriculture profitable, a bio-fertiliser unit will be dedicated to the people at Jabalpur on June 1 by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The same day, 10,000 fishermen will take park in the State-level convention.

The unit being set up at Jawaharlal Nehru Agriculture University, Jabalpur is an effort to promote use of bio-fertilisers to save the soil from adverse effects of chemical fertilisers.

Bio-fertiliser is a bacterial fertiliser. The microbes present in it draw nitrogen from air and make it available to crop and turn insoluble phosphorous present in soil into soluble. It has been proven through scientific research that through use of bio-fertiliser, soil gets 30 to 40 per cent nitrogen per hectare and yield increases by 10 to 20 per cent.

Similarly, productivity increases by 20 to 30 per cent through use of phospho-bacteria and micoriza fertiliser. If bio-fertilisers are used in place of chemical ones, they increase productivity and fertility of soil.

Bio-fertiliser is beneficial for crops of all kinds of pulses barring acetobacter pulses crops. Along with all azospirillum pulses crops, it is also useful for sugarcane crop. Fofobacteria is useful for all types of crops.

Bio-fertilisers are cheaper than chemical fertilisers due to which crop production cost comes down.

Due to it, less quantity of chemical fertilisers is used and fertility of soil increases. It also checks creation of anti-growth hormones in plants. The crops grown with bio-fertilisers do not suffer from soil-generated diseases. The beneficial microbes increase and environment becomes safe.
