Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will inaugurate the newly constructed Administrative and Academic Wing at the Police Training College in Indore on Wednesday.
The new wing has been built as a part of the renovation work for which the Madhya Pradesh Police Housing Corporation (MPPHC) had earlier sanctioned Rs 30.54 crore. The amount is a part of Rs 180 crore that was allocated to the State by the 13th Finance Commission for upgrading police training institutes.
Several other new facilities apart from the new Administrative and Training Wing have been built at the training college using the fund. These include hostels, outdoor training complex, magazine, armoury, simulator hall, MT workshop, parade ground, running track, climbing wall, faculty guest house and 11 new residential houses.
The inaugural ceremony will be attended by Home Minister Uma Shankar Gupta. Commerce and Industries Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Minister of State for Public Health Mahendra Hardia and Indore Mayor Krishna Murari Moghe will be present as special guests. Director General of Police Nandan Dube and MPPHC Chairperson SS lal will be present on the occasion.
Notably, the police training college predates country’s independence. It was used for the training of Holkar State’s army.
It was designated as a training centre for police inspectors in 1948 and in July 2012 it was upgraded as Police Training College. More than 66 batches of nearly 15,000 inspectors have received training at the college.
This is the only police training college in the state where male and female inspectors are imparted training side by side.
