Emotional tributes were paid to late Shanti Devi, wife of Governor Ram Naresh Yadav by representatives of all sections of society and near and dear ones at Raj Bhavan here on Friday. late Shanti Devi’s body was brought to Raj Bhavan at 2 pm.
She died at Medanta Hospital, Gurgaon on Thursday. Her younger son Ajay Naresh Yadav accompanied Shanti Devi’s body on board air taxi of the hospital which reached Bhopal at 1.45 pm.
Her two sons Kamlesh Yadav and Shailesh Yadav and a number of other relatives had arrived early by another aircraft.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Urban Administration and Development Minister Babulal Gaur, Industries Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Public Relations Minister laxmikant Sharma and Home Minister Uma Shankar Gupta paid floral tributes to her body.
leader of Opposition Ajay Singh also paid tributes to her. Earlier, Bhopal MP Kailash Joshi met Governor Yadav and offered here condolences.
Representatives of various political parties also paid tributes to Shanti Devi. These included Mayor Krishna Gaur, Mineral Development Corporation Chairman Rameshwar Sharma, MlA Kalpana Parulekar, Backward Classes Commission Chairman Babulal Kushwaha, Ramesh Sharma Guttu Bhaiyya, PC Sharma and Priya Thakur.
Former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh also offered his condolences to the Governor over telephone.
Chief Secretary R Parasuram, DGP Nandan Dube and a number of other senior officers of Indian Administrative Service and Indian Police Service also paid tributes to the departed soul apart from large number of social workers, representatives of all religions, vice-chancellors of universities, prominent educationists, distinguished citizens, journalists, all officers, employees of Raj Bhavan and their relatives.
Body of late Shanti Devi was flown from Bhopal to lucknow at 4 pm where she will be cremated on August 24 at 10 am. Her body will also lie in state at her Mall Avenue residence in lucknow.
Governor Yadav and some of his relatives accompanied the body.
Public Relations Minister laxmikant Sharma was present at the airport to bid last adieu to Shanti Devi on behalf of the State Government.
Earlier, on arrival of body at the airport, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Secretary R Parasuram, DGP Nandan Dube and MlA Kalpana Parulekar paid floral tributes to her.
As the news of Shanti Devi’s death reached Delhi and lucknow, condolences also started pouring in there.
Apart from Delhi and Madhya Pradesh, all prominent political figures and representatives of various sectors contacted Governor Yadav over phone and offered their condolences.
