Chief Minister Kamal Nath in past one month has sanctioned Rs 3.62 crore from his discretionary fund to 651 needy patients for their treatment.
Official sources said that soon after Nath assumed office, he continued to help the needy patients who had applied for funds for their treatment in different parts of the State. Such orders have been issued right from the needy day he assumed office, December 18 and till January 18.
As per the orders of General Administration Department (GAD), the sanctioned amount has been transferred directly to the accounts of the hospitals, where the patients were treated.
It was a good gesture from the Chief Minister that he continued the previous system of providing financial help to the needy patients and without delay sanctioned the funds for the needy.
Sources said that the funds in the discretionary fund had exhausted, as the new government was just formed, but on Nath’s initiative, Rs 7 crore was arranged and the financial help was continued.
In the previous government, in one financial year, the discretionary fund of the chief minister was Rs 120 crore, but former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan ad already spent it, before the model code of conduct was promulgated for assembly elections. In such a situation, on the initiative of Chief Minister Kamal Nath, Rs 7 crore was arranged to help the patients required treatment for cancer, kidney transplant and seriously injured in accidents etc.
